Wow! What an incredible GreazeFest weekend!

30 August 2024

Wow! What an incredible GreazeFest weekend! The sun was shining, the sky was a perfect shade of blue, and people travelled from all corners of Australia, NZ and beyond to enjoy our wonderful weekend and the spectacle of GreazeFest.

Each year I reflect on our event, thinking about the vibe that happens when we gather with fellow enthusiasts and dive into the cool world of kustom kulture. Coming together to celebrate our hobbies and our lifestyle, creates an amazing and uplifting energy.

Working on GreazeFest throughout this year, my focus has been on positivity and gratitude. I’m grateful to have the opportunity here in Australia to create an event as unique as GreazeFest.

I'm grateful to everyone who makes our weekend special. I send thanks to the incredibly talented musicians, the djs, the hot rod and classic car owners, the gifted and generous artists in our art show, Bettie Butcher, Hilly and the pinup community, the dancers and music fans who travel to attend the event, our photographers, and everyone who takes part in the GreazeFest and makes it fun and fabulous.

But we can’t take GreazeFest for granted. Events are fragile beasts. It doesn’t take much to upset the equilibrium (eg tight economy, event clashes, poor weather). I’m grateful we have survived for 25 years (having presented 27 GreazeFests over 25 years). It's because of folks like you who keep coming back to GreazeFest, that we are still around today.

I send greetings and thank-yous to Marti Brom, Wildman and Emi for joining us this year from overseas. Thanks also to our management team, B-J, Kylie, Simon, Sarah, Vicki, Edie, Jodie, our production crews and all of our wonderful team members who help build the weekend and keep it running smoothly for you.

A special thank you goes to the Redland City Council for their support and for welcoming our GreazeFest community to the Redlands.

Thanks also to Live Music Australia, an Australian Government initiative, who partnered with us to showcase talented Australian bands who play rockabilly, rhythm’n'blues, and vintage country music — styles that we have supported and promoted for over two decades. Of course, we respect and admire our amazing musicians for their dedication to these genres. Their music brings us so much joy.

Kustom kulture and its many facets resonate worldwide, and we have our version here in Australia.

We call it GreazeFest. It’s our weekend to celebrate, and I hope it continues for many more years to come.

Let the good times roll!
