2019 ARCHIVE: GREAZEFEST 20TH ANNIVERSARY
13 August 2019
Good Golly Miss Molly! GreazeFest 20 sure was a ball...!
The GreazeFest at Redland Showgrounds this past weekend came to life in a flash of vibrant colour, rockin’ rhythm and old school cool, as the GreazeFest celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in style.
It felt like spring arrived early and the gorgeous weather provided the perfect setting for our kustom kulture gathering, which shone loud and proud over the weekend.
Kustom kulture devotees rolled up in their thousands to check out dazzling hot rod displays, the Artomic Art Show, Tiki Dylan’s tiki carvings, guest artists Shawn Dickinson, Cathy Mejia, Victory Violet and Krazy Dotty. Von Hot Rod was was pinstriping all weekend like a well-oiled machine, the Trailer Trash Tattoo space babes were a sight to see amongst the silver moon rocks, Johnny Voodoo was barbering up a storm, the GreazeFest Tiki Wahini and Hot Rod Belle pinup parades were a hit, and the reveal of Mez’ newly built FC wagon was fun and exciting.
The kustom kulture and rockabilly community sure like to dress sharp, and they brought out their best vintage and western gear for the weekend, adding even more colour to GreazeFest. Here’s a sincere thank you to the rockers and rodders from all over the world who helped make this GreazeFest such a spectacular anniversary weekend.
Also thank you to the drivers and riders who displayed their vehicles in the hot rod shows, including those who put a lot of miles on the clock getting there, plus congratulations to those of you who picked up a King Trophy. A big thank you to the talented artists who showcased their awe-inspiring creations in the Artomic Art Show, as well as the unique market vendors and quality food truckers with their tasty treats.
Our 20th anniversary year was made even more memorable when our headline guests from the USA, The Paladins hit the stage on Saturday night and tore up the joint with a smokin’ set of rockabilly and blues. Just as special was our good friend Jason Lee Wilson, who delivered a captivating set of country songs from the hills of Tennessee. Thank you to Dan, Jon and Coojee for joining Jason on stage for such a great show, and thank you to all the Australian bands who put in sensational performances from Friday to Sunday. We are so lucky to have such an amazing array of talent downunder.
Massive thanks go to our dedicated Robot Productions team, support crew, suppliers, photographers and everyone we have worked with over the past 20 years of GreazeFest. Thank you also to the Redland City Council for sponsoring GreazeFest and welcoming our kustom kulture crowd into the Redlands.
We heart kustom kulture. See you next year!
